Day 6 - Riggins ID to Boise ID

Today we said goodbye to Dave and Bob who started their trips home around 7:30 AM.

Ken took off at 8 AM.

His route took him west on Idaho 12.

We stopped for breakfast at Granite Mountain Cafe. The photo of the bikes above was taken across the street from this cafe.

It was Kathrine's Birthday, she indirectly told us her age when Jeff won the number game.

Kat got close, but she did not win the age game.

At breakfast we discussed the flow rate of the Salmon River. It was flowing at over 80,000 cubic feet per second. The highest rate in maybe 20 years.

This picture is not the Salmon River, but a good example of the scenery we enjoyed the entire trip.

Mark recommended a stop at the Telaya Winery.

Back at the Hampton Inn for our last night.

Rich won the number game for the Uber Ride to Jim and Nancy's home. We had a great BBQ dinner. They were nice enough to drive us back to the hotel.

Last day of riding felt just lone enough at 162 miles.

Monday morning we turn in our trusty Iron Horses. The Rent Me bikes.

Day 5 - Ponderay ID to Riggins ID

Being in the Pacific time zone, we decided to depart a bit earlier. The plan was to be "Wheels Up" at 7:45 AM, make the short drive to Coeur d'Alene and then stop for breakfast.

After a quick tour of The Coeur d'Alene Resort parking lot, we decided to keep heading south.

A few map checks later, we found ourselves back on course. Idaho Route 5 took us through Heyburn State and past Chatcolet Lake.

Two hours after departing the hotel, we stopped for a snack at a gas station.

Idaho Route 3 was a great ride. We saw 2-3 bald eagles, but did't capture them on film.

Pulled into Hells Canyon Harley Davidson at 1:30 PM to meet Mark's uncle Ed and his wife Betty.

They took us to the Rooster's Landing.

Rich somehow won his second number game in a row. Gary just happened to be sitting in the wrong seat. At least the view of the river was nice.

The views from 95 were amazing. The group picture above and the photo below were taken from yet another gravel rest stop.

Pulled into Riggins at 6:30 PM because we switched back to Mountain Time after crossing the Salmon River.

Dinner at the Seven Devils Saloon Steak House were complements of Dave and Bob.

Audrey did her best to win the Age Game, but she had a few of us out of place.

Accommodations for the evening were at the Salmon Rapids Lodge.

325 Miles logged for the day

Day 4 - Just a few updates

Also to apologize to Greg from the group. We all stopped to take one last picture of the hotel.

Greg took the long way around the block and got a bit separated. Didn't take too long to find him by the roadside.
We forgot to thank Greg for buying breakfast.

Day 4 - Waterton Lakes Canada to Ponderay ID

285 Miles
Some rain.
Temps between 50-70.

Windy night at the Price of Whales hotel.

Woke up to white caps on the lake and a rainbow pointing us to breakfast.

Short drive to breakfast at the Tappers Mountain Grill in the town at the at the end of the rainbow, no gold, just a warning from the local RCMP.

Each star on his sleeve represents 5 years of service. We got off with a verbal warning, but a delayed 10 AM start to today's ride.

Some rain along the way. Apparently the radar cannot detect the rain between the mountain peeks. But after a brief downpour, the sun came out.

We had a quick stop at the Harley dealership in Cranbrook BC. No time for lunch. Needed to make it back to the USA, where an Iron Horse Road sign greeted us at the boarder.

Didn't make it to our intended destination at Coeur D' Alene. Sweet Lou's seemed to call to us.

Mark volunteered for rookie orientation. Rich was the winner of the number game.

Accommodations were a little different than the night before, but still had a great view.

Day 3 - Lolo MT to Waterton Lakes Canada

290 Miles
Lots of Stops

The theme of the day was Dark and Stormy.

The day started with a wet ride.

Don't you hate it when someone is wearing the same outfit?

After leaving Lolo, we went through Missoula "rush hour" and stopped at a little Countryside Cafe just south of Ronan.

Lou was gracious enough to buy breakfast. Isn't that a nice new jacket? I wonder where his old one went?

What looked like a nice place to stop was filled with pot holes!

The water was not as cold as Ken expected.

We took the long way around Glacier National Park. Partly due to the Road to the Sun being closed, and partly due to a GPS malfunction.

Great ride, a little more rain, and some amazing scenery.

Can you see the border line between the USA and Canada?

After the international interrogation was complete, we had time for a group photo.

I wonder who picked our hotel for tonight?

Rich offered to buy dinner...Dave did not. Does this have anything to due with a lost wallet?

Emily tried her best, but she failed to win the age game.

Ken picked the perfect after ride cocktail...a Dark and Stormy.

Day 2 Ketchum ID to Lolo MT

312 Miles
7 Stops

Departed the Base Camp gas station at 8:45 AM with an extra rider. Paul Lees was our Special Guide back to Stanley ID.

Stopped at 8700' for a group photo.

Great Oatmeal Pancakes at the Stanley Baking Company.

No Number Game as Paul S. Volunteered to buy.

From Stanley, we continued to follow the Salmon River East to Challis. Thanks to Dave, Rich was able tighten his Highway pegs before something bad happened, like fall off the bike.

In Challis, we learned no good deed goes unpunished. This is what happens when someone other than Paul cleans your windshield.

With temperatures reaching 90, we avoided the rain and arrived at our destination. Well, maybe someone got a bit wet running back from the liquor store, while the rest of crew enjoyed cocktails and cigars under the covered bike parking.

Bob volunteered to buy at the Lolo Creek Steakhouse. Dave was the lucky winner of the number game to cover the over half.
